At Samarinda we understand how much love may have been devoted to creating your garden. Our Gardening Support service is designed to support older people living in our service area with light gardening chores such as weeding, raking, light pruning and planting. Lawn mowing is not part of the service.
A volunteer gardener will work with you in your garden for up to 1.5 hours a month. Volunteers are allocated according to availability.
There is a $15 client fee for each visit. Other expenses, like taking green waste to tip or buying a hose for the client, are to be met by the client.
How to access our Gardening Support
The Gardening Support program is subsidised by the Australian Government. It can only be accessed through the Commonwealth Home Support Program as Social Support – Individual.
Samarinda can help you to contact My Aged Care, which assesses your eligibility for a government funded program. The assessment is free and conducted in your home. If you wish, we can be with you during the assessment process.
