National Volunteer Week celebrated at Samarinda

29 May

Samarinda celebrated National Volunteer Week in style this year with a beautiful afternoon tea held in the main dining room. We were excited to welcome volunteers from each of our program areas. Along with the delicious food, great music and small gifts we were honoured to hear stories from the very people that our volunteers impact the most – our Clients, Residents and Customers.

We were told of the life-changing impact of a volunteer with a meal in hand who is interested enough to stay for a chat, the unbelievable support of an Op Shop team when the time comes to move into residential care, the freedom extended by a volunteer knocking at the door and accompanying to activities and outings, the friendship built by time spent together.

As one of our guest interviewees said “Samarinda wouldn’t be what it is without volunteers – they brighten everyone’s day”. We are so grateful for the expertise, talents and time that our volunteers give to the Samarinda family – you really do make a world of difference!
