Delivered Meals

At Samarinda we know that healthy eating is important to maintaining wellbeing and independence. Our menus include the healthy eating pyramid and recipe suggestions for those times when you plan to cook for yourself.

The Delivered Meals program is flexible, providing ongoing or short-term assistance for people living independently at home.

Our service delivers a three-course meal to your door, Monday to Friday with frozen meals available for weekends. Meals are delivered only when requested – you don’t have to sign up for an ‘every day’ service.

More than just a meal

Our clients are provided with a five-week seasonal menu: with a daily soup, multiple choices for their main meal and dessert, plus light meal options. View a sample menu.

Our trained kitchen staff ensure individual dietary needs are met. Meals are tasty, nutritionally assessed, cooked fresh and then chilled and packed individually for each client to re-heat at home. Meals come with easy instructions for heating and our in-home assessments include safe food handling and heating instructions for the client’s home situation.

Our valued volunteer drivers deliver the meals every weekday, taking the time to get to know clients and providing both a social connection and an important wellbeing check if the client is unwell or needing additional services.

How to access our Delivered Meals

The Delivered Meals program is subsidised by the Australian Government. It can be accessed through the Commonwealth Home Support Program, Home Care Packages Programs, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) or through a private fee for service arrangement.

Samarinda can help you to contact My Aged Care, which assesses your eligibility for Delivered Meals as part of a Government funded program. The assessment is free and conducted in your home. If you wish, we can be with you during the assessment process.

Meals at our Community Centre

We also provide meals at the Community Centre, where you can join a social lunch group any weekday or maybe just come in for our larger celebration lunches at Christmas and other special events each year.
You could even come into the Community Centre, join an interest group and either stay for lunch or take your meal with you to reheat and eat at home.
For all our meals at the Community Centre, bookings are essential.
